Adoptable Dogs

ADOPTED! Susie is a 10 month old female Beagle mix. She was found running along the I-44 and came to us very skinny and malnourished. She still has a long ways to go as far as weight gain, but is deemed healthy for adoption. She's very sweet and definitely has a very spunky attitude. She will make a great dog for any family. Come by and meet Susie anytime during our adoption hours.

Bandit is a black and tan male Hound mix and about 5 months old. He is one of a litter of pups that was abandoned along a roadside with their mother. He survived the ordeal and has been in a foster situation for several months. He was just brought in to the shelter and finds the whole scene very intimidating right now. He needs a permanent home soon. His foster family says he is good with kids and other animals. Adoption Fee $35

ADOPTED! Cindy was brought in along with her brother and sister, Nico and Ice. She is an 8 year old PUREBRED German Shepherd. She is very loving and loves to be involved with everyone. She has very long hair and came to us with mats in her fur (which we are still trying to work out.) Cindy will need daily grooming (brushing, combing, etc.) to keep her hair from becoming matted and uncomfortable. She is very loving and would like a quiet home for the holidays. ♥

Cindy is spayed, UTD on routine vaccinations, and she is house broke.

"Dwayne" is a very large 1 1/2 years old neutered male Hound mix. He's very fun to be around and has such an amazing personality. You'll fall in love with his big brown eyes the second you lay eyes on him! He's such a goofball and is bound to make you smile, even in the darkest of times. He loves to run and play with everybody. Dwayne is neutered and ready for a home!

Foxy is a Shiba Inu mix. She is about 1.5 years old and was brought to us along with 6 of her puppies who were dumped along with her.

Foxy is very scared here at the shelter and takes awhile to warm up to somebody. She likes to hang out in the back of her kennel and watch everybody walk past her. She is very sweet and loves to be scratched behind the ears.

She would thrive in a quiet home, perhaps with an older couple who have time to spend with her and get her acquainted with living a good long life. Loud noises and sudden movements cause her to tense up. We wouldn't recommend her to a home with loud children for this exact reason. She is spayed and UTD on all vaccinations.

Little Red is a 3 year old Beagle/Basset Hound mix. He has a bit of a lazy personality and is very laid back. He loves people and even going for walks. He is great with kids and other animals and would make a wonderful family dog. Come check out this handsome hound anytime during our adoption hours.

ADOPTED!  Max is a very handsome black lab mix. He has a very shiny, glossy coat and has been very well taken care of by his previous owners. He is very loving and has a very "happy-go-lucky type of personality. He's always ready to get up and go, so he would thrive in an active home where he is constantly involved in exercise and activity.

Millie is a 4 year old Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever mix. She is a VERY sweet girl with a laid back personality. Despite her age, she is anything but a couch potatoe and was ready to go for a walk when we took her out for a photoshoot. She's very good with children and other animals. She's a shelter favorite! Millie is spayed and current on her vaccinations. Come meet this girl anytime during our adoption hours.

ADOPTED!  Scott is a 6 year old registered Cocker Spaniel. He came in on January 19th when his owner had to move to a nursing home. Scott has a very calm personality and is good natured towards children and other animals. Scott is current on vaccinations. Come meet this guy anytime during our adoption hours.

ADOPTED! Gypsy is a PUREBRED yellow Labrador Retriever. She is about 8 years old and NEEDS OUT. Shelters are very stressful places for older dogs and cats and it takes a large toll on their lifespan. Gypsy would prefer a home without young, loud children who pull her hair and scream in her face. She is also not a fan of small yappy dogs (who is?) She was primarily used for breeding in her younger days and does not know how to be a dog. She has lived outside most of her life, so she is not housebroke. Gypsy is VERY sweet and just wants a place to call "home" for the remainder of her life. She is spayed and fully vaccinated.

Gypsy was adopted out to a new home, but did not take to the small children hanging on her. Gypsy needs a quiet home, preferably a home with children 10+. She is older, and needs a place to call home for the rest of her life. She is gorgeous, and wants a family. Come by and take this poor girl home today. ♥

ADOPTED! 1/17/11 - Buddy is a 2 year old neutered male Brindle Pug mix. This is a cute dog with a lively and captivating personality. He can be strong willed at times and needs and owner who will be firm and channel his behavior in a positive direction. He is housetrained and is current on his vaccinations. Buddy needs to go to a home without cats or small children because of his unpredictable behavior. Adoption Fee $50

Calvin is a beautiful Beagle/Hound mix. He is just around a year old and has a very "happy-go-lucky" personality. He is very loving and has plenty of energy. He would thrive in an active home with children and other animals to keep him occupied. This boy is very handsome! Calvin will need to be neutered and vaccinated by his new owners. We have the right to refuse any adoption.

Abby is a 6 month old Pitbull/Labrador mix. She's very sweet and has a super personality that goes right along with her great looks. She came to us after her owner could no longer care for her. From what we have figured out, she is good with cats and other dogs - as well as children and people in general. She is off to a great start and has a very sensible mind. She will make someone a great dog! Abby is UTD on vaccinations.

Bella is such a cutie. She is a tiny Chihuahua mix and has the wire-iest hair you'll ever find. She's always up for a nice cuddle on your lap, or a walk in the park - whichever, she just wants to be by someone's side. She seeks to please, and this personality trait will make her a great family pet. Come by and meet Bella today! She is 2 years old and UTD on all vaccinations.

Guiness came to us as an owner surrender. He is a very sweet boy who gets along with everybody, including other animals and children. He is a very healthy boy. He has been neutered and is house broke. He also knows a few cool tricks! Come by and meet this cool guy today! He is also UTD on all vaccines.

Twiggy was found outside our door one morning - someone had just left her tied out. We think she is only about a year and a half old. She's a very sweet girl, and definitely needs to gain some weight. She is pretty easy going after she has been out of her kennel for awhile. We think she was a mamma not too long ago. She has a great personality and seems to like the company of people. She does okay with cats when supervised, however we are not sure she should be trusted without supervision due to her curious and playful personality. She is good with most dogs.

Utah is a golden retriever mix puppy - approximately 4 months old. He was picked up by the St. James Police Dept. at Conoco. He is a very happy puppy and loves to go for walks and make people happy. Utah has tons of energy and would love a home with other animals and children to keep him occupied. He is a very smart and loving boy.

Capone is a very gorgeous fawn colored Pitbull mix. Capone is a really amazing dog, with such an unfortunate story. Capone was found in the city storage shed and was growling at police men. Our TCHS manager, Dani was called upon the scene and sat in a chair, patiently waiting for Capone's curiosity to win over his fear.

Since coming to the shelter, Capone has showed us that he his a very kind, older gentlemen (around 5 years old) and is very, very loving towards women, children and other animals. Capone is very malnourished and has many scars along his face, legs and tail. Our staff thinks Capone may have fallen victim as a "bait dog" to dog fighters. He is very scared of men and older boys, therefore, a special home situation is a MUST-HAVE for this gentleman.

Capone is VERY loving. He loves "kisses" and enjoys walks. He is very greatful to be surrounded by such loving people. He's had such a difficult life.

Capone is about 5 years old. He will need to be neutered and vaccinated by his new owners. His adoption fee is $25 to the RIGHT HOME. We have the right to refuse any adoption.
